A tragic event shocked the community this Friday, when Mateo Santiago, a 12-year-old boy, was found dead in the Lagunillas area of Jalisco. His disappearance had been reported last Tuesday in León, Guanajuato.
The governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García, lamented Mateo's death and strongly condemned the events. She also informed about the detention of a suspect in relation to this case.
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Guanajuato assured that this act will not go unpunished and has initiated a rigorous investigation that points to the possible involvement of a third party, who has already been identified.
In the governor's words: "The violence that took his life cannot and must not go unanswered. Today, with the pain still present, we join the outcry of the family, society, and all those who demand justice."
Additionally, communication was established between the prosecutor of Guanajuato and his counterpart in Jalisco to expedite, with respect to human dignity, the corresponding protocol for the delivery of Mateo Santiago's body to his loved ones.
