According to close sources, the mayor intends to eliminate some territorial offices to reorganize the remaining ones across different regions of the municipality. This initiative has been viewed with skepticism, as it is suggested that there is an electoral objective behind it to secure local congressional seats in the 2027 elections.
Amid differences between Alavez's plan and that of the Head of Government, Clara Brugada, there is concern within the ruling party about the impact this restructuring could have on citizen services. Some rapid response offices could disappear, making it more difficult for residents to access government services.
It is noted that the reorganization of the territorial offices would facilitate closer associates of Alavez acquiring more responsibilities and control over the electoral districts. This has raised concerns about the administration's closeness to the citizens and its fulfillment of their demands in such a populated area as Iztapalapa.
For instance, it is mentioned that the Cabeza de Juárez delegation in eastern Iztapalapa could be closed, which would affect the attention and support that citizens receive in that area. Amid these internal tensions, it is suggested that this restructuring could be part of a strategy to strengthen Alavez's and Morena's political power in the municipality.
