Citizen Democracy in Mexican Justice

The selection of judges in Mexico will become a democratic process, where the people will decide who will hold the positions. This transformation aims to better represent the citizen.

After an exhaustive public scrutiny that has selected the best candidates, the people will now have the final decision on who will hold positions in the judiciary. The candidate for Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation expresses her confidence in the wisdom of the citizenship and in the evaluation process they have undergone.

Last year's constitutional reform marked a milestone in the democratization of the Judiciary, allowing anyone to run, but only the most qualified could be considered. Through evaluative committees made up of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial powers, candidates have been assessed to ensure their suitability.

The previous selection process for judges, which was internal to the Judiciary, was renewed to avoid undesirable practices and give voice to the citizenship. This change has been celebrated as an unprecedented democratic exercise in the country, where people now have the opportunity to decide who will be the members of the legal system.

The candidate highlights the importance of candidates presenting themselves to the population, gaining their trust, and explaining their proposals to improve the justice system. She also urges the media and various organizations to inform about the challenges and solutions proposed by the candidates.

Amid critiques and doubts about the population's ability to make decisions, the candidate remains firmly convinced of the people's wisdom to choose. Her commitment continues to seek equitable justice, socially aware and institutionally responsible, focused on addressing the needs of all sectors of society leading up to the elections on June 1.
