Alejandra Del Moral, former PRI candidate in the State of Mexico and current director of the Mexican Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID), was involved in an awkward incident during the funeral of former local deputy Francisco Rojas. According to sources close to the Foreign Ministry, Del Moral allegedly exhibited inappropriate behavior at Rojas' burial, with whom she had a personal relationship in the past and considered a great love in her life.
During the funeral, Del Moral, apparently under the influence of alcohol, expressed her emotions in front of Rojas' coffin, which was reportedly poorly received by the family of the deceased. The family even asked Del Moral to leave the place. The incident was reported to the Foreign Ministry, creating a new point of tension in the already complicated diplomatic environment.
This episode adds to other recent events that have stirred relations within the Foreign Ministry, such as the criticized participation of former Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena in a wedding held at a museum or the presence of Mexican officials at Nicolás Maduro's inauguration in Venezuela. Del Moral's behavior at Rojas' funeral is said to be the most recent point of discord among career diplomats and the Government.
