INE Postpones Extraordinary Council Meeting

The National Electoral Institute (INE) postponed an extraordinary public session meant to approve the list of candidates for the judicial election on June 1.

The National Electoral Institute (INE) announced that the extraordinary public session of the General Council, in which the report on the receipt of the candidate lists for the election of the Judiciary on June 1 would be presented, has been postponed. In this session, which was delayed, the candidate list for that election was to be approved.

According to the electoral body, in the session scheduled for Saturday, February 15, the agreement to receive the report of the activities carried out by the Executive Secretariat regarding the receipt of candidate lists for the Extraordinary Electoral Process 2024-2025 would be discussed. The INE clarified that the postponement is due to the need to receive certain information requested from the Senate of the Republic in order to complete the candidate list.

The deadline to receive this information is February 16, 2025, so that the General Council can make informed decisions. On February 12, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, president of the Senate Board of Directors, handed Guadalupe Taddei, a councilor of the INE, the list of candidates that will appear on the ballots for the judicial election.
