Tabasco's governor Javier May appointed Serafín Tadeo Lazcano as the new head of the SSCP after Víctor Hugo Chávez Martínez resigned. The governor highlighted Lazcano's extensive experience in federal police work as crucial for enhancing state security strategies.


New Security Secretary Appointed in Tabasco

The governor of Tabasco, Javier May Rodríguez, announced changes in the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of the state. Serafín Tadeo Lazcano was appointed as the new head of the SSPC, while Jesús Amaya Guerrero will be the commissioner of the State Police. These appointments come after the resignation of Víctor Hugo Chávez Martínez as secretary of security.

Serafín Tadeo Lazcano, who has extensive experience in the Attorney General's Office, takes over the position from Víctor Hugo Chávez Martínez. Chávez Martínez, during his tenure, received threats from organized crime. For his part, Jesús Amaya Guerrero was appointed as Commissioner of the State Police by Governor May.

In a press conference, Javier May thanked Chávez Martínez for his work and highlighted his commitment and valor, as well as that of the outgoing secretary. May emphasized the importance of strengthening the security strategy in Tabasco, mentioning investments in technology, the construction of the C5, equipment, and training for personnel.

Additionally, the commissioner of the Federal Protection Service, Francisco Javier Moreno Montaño, praised the appointments of Lazcano and Amaya Guerrero, considering them a firm step towards a comprehensive security strategy. Moreno Montaño stressed the need to address the root causes of insecurity to achieve sustainable results and ensure the well-being of the people of Tabasco.
