The decision is expected to be finalized today, accelerating the legislative process despite previous controversies in the Supreme Court.

Appointment of the New State Prosecutor in Nuevo León

According to information obtained by LPO, an agreement has been signed between the factions of Morena and Movimiento Ciudadano for the appointment of a new state prosecutor, which could be announced today. The PRI, which currently has control of this agency, is trying to promote Javier Flores Saldívar as a candidate. Flores Saldívar, who has close ties with former governor Rodrigo Medina, held the position of attorney general in 2015 after the departure of Adrián de la Garza.

Sources close to the legislature informed LPO that the name of Javier Flores Saldívar would have been agreed upon with Governor Samuel García, as this candidate also enjoys good relations in Palacio de Cantera. For its part, Morena would be supporting Luis Enrique Orozco, a profile that has recognition from the PRI-PAN and who, in the last year, has approached the Fourth Transformation in Mexico City.

The coordinators of the PRI, PAN, and PRD, Heriberto Treviño, Carlos de la Fuente, and Perla Villarreal respectively, have publicly requested that the designation of the state prosecutor be expedited. This appointment was guaranteed with the support of Governor Samuel García after negotiations related to the 2025 Budget. The three legislators presented an official document to demand from the legal area of the Congress a prompt resolution of the controversies pending in the Supreme Court.

Despite the obstacles arising from the controversies presented before the Supreme Court that have slowed down the process, it is expected that the legislature will speed up the selection of the new prosecutor today. It is presumed that, given the supposed unanimity in the Plenary on this matter, possible objections would be rendered ineffective.
