On February 14, the terms of the memorandum took effect, which will not exceed until mid-June unless extended for another 120 days, according to information from Bloomberg. The draft of the memorandum, which circulated in the IRS this weekend, according to sources familiar with the matter, highlighted the need for a quick and thorough analysis by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), as the IRS was not equipped to handle it alone.

Kliger's responsibilities, special advisor to the OPM director, would include debugging, software testing, programming, and implementing security measures to prevent fraud, the memorandum details. Although the temporal detail does not limit Kliger's access to taxpayer data, it raises concerns about how broad that access might be, as it does not clearly specify the purpose as is customary in such documents.

Although tax return information is normally protected, there are exceptions, such as data sharing between state and law enforcement agencies. On the other hand, the Senate of the Republic approved the entry of 10 elements of the United States Armed Forces into Mexico to conduct training and support the training of elements of the Mexican Navy. These activities will take place at the Navy headquarters in San Luis Carpizo, Campeche, away from the operations centers of the largest cartels.

The training, which began on February 17, is scheduled to conclude on March 28. The measure was approved with 107 votes in favor in the Upper House and is part of the joint collaboration against drug trafficking between the two countries at a time of tension due to the imposition of tariffs by the United States on Mexican products until fentanyl trafficking is controlled and the border between the two nations is closed.
