Trump Accuses Mexico of Being Governed by Cartels

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, made a controversial statement this Tuesday by suggesting that Mexico is largely governed by drug cartels. During a press conference in Florida, Trump addressed the issue of CIA drone flights over Mexican territory to monitor drug traffickers and shared his opinion on the matter.

"I think that Mexico is largely governed by the cartels, and that is a sad thing to say," stated the North American leader, emphasizing the influence of criminal groups in the neighboring country.

Trump insisted that over the years, but especially currently, Mexico is under the influence of the cartels. He accused Mexican authorities of allowing millions of people to enter the United States through the common border, labeling the migrants as "criminals" coming from various prisons around the world.

Since taking office on January 20, President Trump has highlighted his immigration policy and claimed to have achieved the "safest border" in history, praising the performance of the U.S. Border Patrol.

Reports from U.S. media outlets such as CNN and The New York Times revealed that the CIA is conducting drone flights over Mexico to monitor drug cartels, with the aim of locating fentanyl labs. These covert operations reportedly started during Joe Biden's administration, Trump's predecessor.

Upon taking office, President Trump signed an executive order to classify drug cartels as foreign terrorist groups, urging the State Department to include the Sinaloa Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, the Northeast Cartel, the Michoacan Family, and the United Cartels in its terrorist list, all of which are active in Mexico.
