Billy Álvarez, former president of the Cruz Azul Cooperative, has experienced a significant change in his case after a judge decided to suspend his connection to the prosecution due to an emergency hospitalization. Guillermo “N” suffered a transcervical fracture of his left hip, which led to him being transferred to the Adolfo López Mateos Medical Center in the State of Mexico. According to Milenio, the prison director informed Mariana Vieyra Valdés, the Third District Judge in Criminal Matters of Edomex, about the hospitalization and the subsequent surgery of the Mexican businessman.
After the surgery, Billy Álvarez is in delicate but stable condition, which has allowed him to be interviewed by personnel from the Federal Judiciary. It is important to remember that Guillermo N fell into the hands of Mexican justice on January 16, when he was arrested by elements of the Attorney General's Office at his residence in the south of Mexico City. The 79-year-old businessman faces accusations for crimes such as organized crime and diversion of resources during his tenure at the Cruz Azul Cooperative.
On January 21, a new arrest warrant was issued against him for the acquisition of false tax receipts totaling 91 million 780 thousand pesos. This means that Billy Álvarez will face two distinct legal proceedings, which are currently on hold due to his hospitalization.
