The head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed her satisfaction with the existence of debate and the diversity of opinions within her party, Morena. She took the opportunity to clarify that upon assuming the presidency, she took a leave of absence as a member, and therefore, she will refrain from commenting on internal party matters. She emphasized her commitment to strengthening the movement that the government represents, beyond being a political party.
"I leave that to the president of Morena," Sheinbaum remarked regarding the affiliation of Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez, who has requested to join Morena. She highlighted that the party has its own committees for Honesty and Justice to resolve internal conflicts and maintain cohesion. Sheinbaum stated that the unity and principles of Morena are the responsibility of those who lead the party.
On the other hand, Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez, a senator who supported the judicial reform promoted by Morena but was expelled from PAN, has sparked mixed reactions in seeking to join the governing party. Despite his decision to support the president of the Republic, his affiliation has generated rejection and criticism from Rocío Nahle, governor of Veracruz.
Nahle requested the committee for Honesty and Justice of Morena not to accept Yunes Márquez as a member of the party, arguing that he does not represent the principles of the regeneration movement. In response, Sheinbaum avoided directly commenting on Yunes Márquez's affiliation, leaving the decision to accept or reject the senator in the hands of the Morena structure.
