Tragic discovery of human remains in Teocaltiche

In the midst of the search for eight municipal police officers missing since Tuesday, February 18, a dozen black bags with human remains were found in the La Esperanza neighborhood of Teocaltiche, Jalisco.

Authorities are investigating whether these remains belong to the missing officers, who were en route to Guadalajara for control and trust tests and lost contact in the Teocaltiche-Lagos de Moreno area.

The discovery occurred around 3:25 a.m. on Wednesday during a joint operation between the Jalisco State Attorney General's Office, the State Security Secretariat, the National Defense Secretariat, and the Teocaltiche Police Department. Additionally, a poster with a message was discovered, which is now part of the investigation.

The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, expressed that "it seems that these may be some of the missing police officers," although the identity of the remains has not yet been confirmed by the Attorney General's Office.

Lemus also suggested the possibility that the crime is related to the infiltration of the Teocaltiche police by criminal groups. In his words: "Within the investigation, it is believed that it is very likely that the police were infiltrated, protecting a criminal group, and the opposing group was the one who committed this truly terrible act."

The governor expressed solidarity with the residents of Teocaltiche and especially with the families of the missing police officers.
