
Three foreigners were detained on the coasts of Oaxaca for operating boats loaded with several tons of cocaine. The Secretary of Navy (Semar) was responsible for carrying out the operation and placed the detainees and the drugs at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry.
The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar GarcĂa Harfuch, reported that the Secretary of Navy detained the foreigners who were on two boats, managing to seize more than 1,900 kg of cocaine. From October 1, 2024, to date, the Semar has secured a total of 26,508 kilograms of cocaine at sea.
The capture was the result of naval intelligence operations directed by the Semar, in collaboration with the Secretary of National Defense (Defensa), the National Guard (GN), the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), and the SSPC. During maritime surveillance patrols along the coast of Oaxaca, two vessels with large quantities of cocaine and fuel were found.
One of the vessels was carrying 38 drums with approximately 780 liters of fuel, while the other transported 55 bundles with 1,922 kilograms of cocaine and around 600 liters of fuel. According to authorities, this seizure represents an economic loss for organized crime of more than 24 million dollars, equivalent to more than 478 million pesos.
