According to José Luis Montenegro, the faction of Guzmán Araujo has its own structure and commanders, but they are allied with Los Chapitos. Montenegro details that an agreement was established where the CJNG would control Zacatecas, Chiapas, and Nayarit, while the Sinaloa Cartel would retain Sinaloa, Durango, and Sonora. Both organizations agreed to weaken and destroy together the faction of ‘Mayito Flaco’ in cities like New York, Washington, Phoenix, and Chicago.

In an interview, Montenegro comments: "He is putting or betraying his closest associates because he fears they will betray him first." The journalist points out that Guzmán Salazar fears being arrested due to pressures from the U.S. government to curb drug trafficking and with the recent designation of Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations.

Montenegro mentions that possibly one of the operators of Los Chapitos, Óscar Noé Medina González, alias ‘El Panu’, could be captured in the coming days, as the DEA offers a reward of 4 million dollars for him. Montenegro claims that alliances have been registered between the Guzmán family and other criminal organizations, with agreements made with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel by Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar and Jassiel Abdiel Guzmán Araujo.

According to Montenegro, Jassiel Abdiel Guzmán would have established a possible alliance between the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel after meetings in Guadalajara and Nayarit. The recent arrests of key members of the Sinaloa Cartel keep Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar nervous under the pressure of authorities.

Montenegro indicates that Iván Archivaldo has shown nervousness and has started to betray his own people as captures within the cartel intensify. According to the journalist, Archivaldo has managed to evade arrest after a military operation in Culiacán and is injured and afraid of being captured. The recent arrests within the organization have led Montenegro to state that Guzmán Salazar lives in constant nervous crisis and alert, fearing capture.
