The Attorney General's Office of Puebla succeeded in linking Obed 'N', a former commander of the National Guard, to a process and ordered preventive prison for his alleged participation in an aggravated extortion kidnapping.
According to the information provided by the state Attorney General's Office, on October 11, 2023, Obed 'N' and other members of the National Guard went to Santa Catarina Hueyatzacoalco, in the municipality of San Martín Texmelucan, where, posing as members of a criminal group, they deprived two individuals of their liberty. The alleged kidnappers demanded 50 thousand dollars from the victims for their release, but the victims managed to escape and seek help from the neighbors, who detained two of the responsible individuals.
The alleged perpetrators are undergoing oral trial and are in preventive prison. During the investigation, it was found that Obed 'N' had left the country heading to Panama.
The Attorney General requested the activation of the migration alert, and with the collaboration of the National Migration Institute (INM) and the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City, the accused was detained at the Benito Juárez International Airport upon his return from Panama. After hearing the arguments from the Attorney General's Office, the Control Judge ordered the linking of Obed 'N' to the process and mandated preventive prison as a precautionary measure while the legal process takes place.
