Inés Gómez Mont Reappears After Four Years

Inés Gómez Mont, a television presenter and fugitive from justice for years due to accusations of organized crime and money laundering alongside her husband, Víctor Álvarez Puga, has returned to the public scene following the death of host Daniel Bisogno on Friday, February 21.

During a live broadcast, renowned journalist Paty Chapoy shared that Inés Gómez Mont contacted her to express her condolences for Bisogno's loss, a contact that surprised many given Gómez Mont's disappearance since January 2021.

The communication between the hosts, Paty Chapoy and Inés Gómez Mont, has raised questions about whether this approach could eventually assist in the capture of the fugitive and her husband, bringing an end to their search by authorities looking to clarify their alleged participation in a tax evasion and money laundering scheme.

Four years ago, the Attorney General's Office reported that Gómez Mont and Álvarez Puga had devised a tax evasion plan through the issuance and use of false invoices to simulate non-existent commercial operations, with the aim of evading tax payments and justifying unjustified increases in their wealth, coming from a public contract with the Ministry of the Interior through which they allegedly laundered around 3 billion pesos.
