Scandals of Corruption in CFE Revealed

Recent allegations claim corruption and nepotism within CFE, with high salaries for close associates of Director Emilia Calleja, contradicting government austerity measures.

Scandals of Corruption in CFE Revealed

At the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), concerning situations are arising that provoke questions about possible acts of corruption. One of the most prominent cases involves Javier Maldonado Ramos, Deputy Director of Non-Regulated Business, who began to question his salary after signing his contract in October. Despite receiving a considerable amount for his responsibilities, he believed he deserved more and demanded a raise.

After expressing his dissatisfaction, Maldonado Ramos was reassigned to a new position as a specialized technical assistant, with a salary that met his expectations. This change meant he began to receive over 150,000 pesos net monthly. This fact sparked criticism and raised doubts about the commitment to republican austerity within the company.

In addition to this case, reports of nepotism and influence peddling have emerged at CFE. It is mentioned that several collaborators, considered close to the director Emilia Calleja, have experienced significant salary increases, surpassing even the income of the president of the institution. This preferential treatment has generated discontent among other employees, who perceive a double standard in the company’s labor practices.

Emilia Calleja's management has been criticized by some officials and external observers. The transparency of the hiring and reassignment processes, as well as the handling of salaries, which seem not to align with the principles of austerity proclaimed by the authorities, are being questioned. These irregularities have raised alarms about the future direction of CFE and highlighted the need for greater oversight and accountability within the entity.

On the other hand, controversial cases have also arisen at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). The focus has been on the Secretary of Institutional Development, Diana Tamara Martínez Ruiz, due to alleged irregularities in her management and accusations of malpractice in resource administration. These situations have raised concern within the university community and have heightened the demand for greater clarity and ethics in higher education institutions.
