The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, appointed Yadira Lira as secretary of Tourism in his government on November 19, 2024, after reassigning Norma Layón Aarún to the position of Director of Toll Roads of Puebla. In a press conference, Armenta urged Lira to 'get to work and deliver results' in the promotion and development of the state's tourist routes, warning that if she fails to do so, he could dismiss her services.

During the same conference, Armenta urged the secretary to present concrete proposals for routes to key tourist areas such as the archaeological zone of Cantona, the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán biosphere, and Piedras Encimadas, among others. He highlighted the importance of promoting the route to San Carlos, in the municipality of Izúcar de Matamoros, as a fundamental avenue to attract more tourism to the region.

Before the media, the governor emphasized the need for the secretary to focus on the tasks assigned. Armenta stated that 'she no longer has permission to go anywhere that is not to tour the tourist routes that the population needs.' The priority is the development and promotion of these routes for the benefit of tourism in Puebla.

Yadira Lira, who now serves as secretary of Tourism in Puebla, was a local deputy in the LX Legislature of the Congress of Puebla during the period 2018-2021. In 2019, the Permanent Commission of the Congress approved her indefinite leave to assume the leadership of the Poblano Institute of Sports (INPODE) during the tenure of Miguel Barbosa Huerta. She remained in office until early June 2024, in the administration of Sergio Céspedes Peregrina, when she submitted her resignation for personal reasons.
