Tension in Morena over Attempt to Create New Party

The Morena government faces internal tension due to Edgar Garza's attempt to form the party "La Democracia Continúa", which has led to a sanctioning process and criticism towards Gabriela Jiménez, federal deputy.

Tension in Morena over Attempt to Create New Party

According to sources from LPO, within the ruling party Morena, the possible expulsion of Edgar Garza, husband of federal deputy Gaby Jiménez, is being considered due to his involvement in promoting the movement "Let Democracy Continue." This decision, although it may take time, raises concerns within the party, as Garza is a national counselor of Morena. The ruling force has reiterated the importance of maintaining unity during these times.

The situation has caused increased tension between the leadership of Morena, Deputy Jiménez, and her supporters. It is speculated that Jiménez is looking to create her own political party to gain more influence within Morena, leading to internal confrontations. There is an intention to prohibit the creation of this new party and to sanction those involved in these plans.

Within Morena, there is a perception that "Let Democracy Continue" aims to be a refuge for figures from the 4T who could find themselves without space within the ruling party in light of future elections. The leadership of Morena is focused on the municipal elections in June and on strengthening its internal structure, so attempts to work outside this structure are viewed with suspicion.

The Honesty and Justice Commission of Morena has opened a sanctioning procedure against Edgar Garza for his efforts to turn "Let Democracy Continue" into a political party separate from Morena. This movement is seen as a threat to the internal consolidation of Morena, which seeks to increase its number of members. Uncertainty surrounds the possible sanction to be imposed on Garza while other cases within the party are being analyzed.

"We must avoid division, dishonesty, influence peddling, and opportunism," expressed a source from Morena. The situation of Garza, and by extension Jiménez, within the party remains in suspense, awaiting the resolution of the Honesty and Justice Commission.
