New Leadership in the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences

The Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, appointed Alejandro Axel Rivera Martínez as the new head of the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences (IJCF) and Francelia Hernández Cuevas as head of the Technical Secretariat of the State Commission for Attention to Victims of Jalisco (CEEAVJ). These appointments came from a process of ongoing dialogue with groups searching for missing persons and independent seekers.

The Governor made these appointments based on the lists presented at a meeting that included state authorities, the Social Participation Committee of the State Anti-Corruption System, groups, and independent seekers. For the formation of the lists, the Social Participation Committee of the SEA conducted an evaluation of the candidates' profiles, with the two most qualified included in each list and the third voted freely by the groups and independent seekers last week.

In the evaluation process, the authorities met with the groups and the CPS to analyze the profiles and assess the candidates. The list for the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences included Carlos Daniel Barba Rodríguez, Alejandro Axel Rivera Martínez, and Mario Aguayo Arechiga, while for the Technical Secretariat of the CEEAVJ, the list included Francelia Hernández Cuevas, Juan Carlos Benítez Suárez, and Lucía Almaraz Cazares.

Rivera Martínez is a graduate of the Medical Surgeon career from the University of Guadalajara and has extensive experience in the forensic field, having served as Director of the Forensic Medical Service of the IJCF. Hernández Cuevas, for her part, has over 20 years of experience in the State Attorney General's Office, highlighting her time in the Commission for the Search for Persons of Jalisco.

These appointments are crucial to strengthen justice institutions and victim assistance in Jalisco, demonstrating the State Government's commitment to transparency, participation, and building a government that responds to the needs of the local population.
