The Constitutional Points Commission of the local Congress of Nuevo León has made progress with a constitutional reform that seeks to elevate the position of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Femicide to constitutional rank, a matter of great importance in the region that needs to be addressed with determination. Additionally, this modification removes the authority from the Attorney General, Javier Flores Saldivar, to make the appointment to this position, establishing that it will now be the responsibility of the Congress to choose the head through a shortlist and a veto from the state government.

The reform does not contemplate an immediate change in the head of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Femicide, so it will continue to be led by Griselda Núñez, who is part of the shortlist from which Javier Flores was appointed as Attorney General. According to sources, Núñez maintains a neutral relationship with all political parties, which contributed to the approval of the first opinion.

From the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), it is pointed out that the creation of this Specialized Prosecutor's Office is largely a response to the management of the current Attorney General, so they will be consulted in the second stage of the reform. The proposal to create this Prosecutor's Office was driven by Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) together with the Labor Party (PT) and received support from the opposition during its evaluation.

Javier Flores has stated that he has no immediate plans to make changes in key areas, including Femicide, despite this process of standardization of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office at the constitutional level.
