Claudia Sheinbaum Addresses INAI and Corruption Issues

President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized this Thursday at the morning conference that, despite the disappearance of the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information, and Personal Data Protection (INAI), it will still be subject to review by the Anti-Corruption and Good Government Secretariat, which will assume its responsibilities in transparency.

In response to questions about possible misconduct by INAI officials, Sheinbaum assured that, if irregularities are found in their recent or past management, corresponding sanctions will be applied, both administrative and otherwise, by the new secretariat or the Superior Audit Office of the Federation.

The president addressed the corruption allegations, ranging from nepotism to extortion, that have affected INAI in recent months, and assured that necessary investigations will be carried out, especially for the 2023-2024 period.

Sheinbaum also referred to the judges and members of the Federal Judicial Branch who will leave their positions after this year's electoral process. She highlighted that there are judges who are accelerating the resolution of cases before their departure, particularly amparo cases, raising doubts about their motivations.

Both the judicial reform and the elimination of autonomous bodies were initiatives inherited from the previous government led by Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and despite the criticisms received, Sheinbaum has defended these decisions on various occasions from her presidential position.
