
A 35-year-old man entered a home in Iztapalapa this Thursday and shot dead three people, leading a family member of the victims to respond to the attack with gunfire at the assailant. According to a statement from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) of Mexico City, the incident took place in a house located on Telecomunicaciones Avenue, near the corner with Enrique Contel, in the Chinam Pac de Juárez neighborhood, Iztapalapa borough.
The SSC police were alerted of gunfire at the mentioned residence and quickly arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, they observed a man running out of the property and another man who shot at him, hitting him in the chest. The officers asked the assailant to drop the weapon and called for emergency assistance.
The 63-year-old man explained that the assailant had entered his home and shot directly at three family members, prompting him to chase and repel the attack. Inside the house, the police found a 45-year-old woman, another 30-year-old woman, and a 35-year-old man, all deceased due to gunshot wounds. Additionally, a 28-year-old young man was injured and taken to a hospital.
The alleged perpetrator, 35 years old, was arrested and taken to a hospital under police custody for medical attention. The man who repelled the attack was also arrested, along with two firearms found at the scene and a black motorcycle without plates, all remaining at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office to determine their legal situation and carry out the corresponding investigations.
