
The Human Rights Prosecutor's Office of the State of Guanajuato (PRODHEG) is an autonomous public body created in 1992, whose main function is to protect, defend, promote, and disseminate human rights in the entity. The Congress of the State of Guanajuato appointed Karla Gabriela Alcaraz Olvera as the new head of PRODHEG, marking a historic event as she is the first woman to hold this position. With the possibility of re-election, Alcaraz Olvera will lead PRODHEG for a period of four years. Prior to her appointment, she served as deputy prosecutor of the same institution, accumulating a background in the defense and promotion of human rights in the entity.
Her appointment represents a significant change in the history of the Prosecutor's Office, with the expectation of strengthening actions in favor of human rights in Guanajuato. The appointment of Karla Gabriela Alcaraz Olvera has been well received in various sectors, as it is expected that she will reinforce the protection of human rights in Guanajuato.
With her arrival, a new stage opens in the Prosecutor's Office, where greater incidence will be sought in the defense of fundamental rights and the consolidation of strategies to address issues in this area. The new head replaces Vicente Esqueda Méndez, who completed his term at the autonomous body.
