Rafael Caro Quintero, leader of the Guadalajara Cartel, and brothers Miguel Ángel and Omar Treviño Morales, leaders of Los Zetas, are among the 29 drug traffickers extradited by Mexico to the United States in an operation described as "unprecedented" by government sources according to EFE.

Mexican authorities carried out the extradition of 29 individuals who were imprisoned in Mexican jails, handing them over to authorities in cities such as Chicago, Houston, McKinney (Texas), New York, Phoenix, San Antonio, Washington, and White Plains (New York) as part of international cooperation agreements.

Other notable names among those extradited include Antonio Oseguera Cervantes, alias Tony Montana, financial operator of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), and José Ángel Canobbio, alias El Güerito, responsible for fentanyl distribution for the Sinaloa Cartel.

In a context where a high-level Mexican delegation visits Washington to negotiate with the U.S. government and avoid a 25% tariff on Mexican products, President Donald Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with Mexico's progress in the fight against drugs.

Despite some improvements in border crossings, Trump stated that he does not see significant advancements in this area. Meanwhile, Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated the importance of maintaining calm and expressed her confidence that both governments will reach an agreement to prevent the imposition of tariffs on March 4.

According to the Mexican Government, thanks to the deployment of military personnel at the U.S. border previously agreed upon with Trump, significant arrests have been made and more than 11,000 kilograms of drugs have been seized.
