Rafael Caro Quintero, known as the "narco of narcos," and 28 other crime bosses have been extradited by the Government of Mexico to the United States. In light of this action, PAN Senator Marko Cortés has urged President Claudia Sheinbaum to clarify whether the extradition is part of negotiations with President Donald Trump to avoid the imposition of tariffs and to remain silent on certain issues.
Marko Cortés stated on social media that the extradition of these bosses to the United States highlights the urgency of establishing a binational agreement to curb the violence, extortion, and death caused by the cartels. This situation arises amid Trump’s pressures on Mexico due to the flow of drugs from that country to the United States and Canada.
Among the extradited bosses are leaders of cartels such as "Los Chimales," "Los Chapitos," "Gulf Cartel," and "Los Zetas," among others. Rafael Caro Quintero, founder of the Guadalajara Cartel, and Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, leader of the Juárez Cartel, are some of the notable names on the list of extradited individuals.
Mexican authorities have taken this measure amid pressure from the United States and the complex relationships between both countries regarding drug trafficking and security. The extradition of these bosses represents an important step in the fight against organized crime and seeks to send a message of international coordination in the pursuit of justice and the fight against illicit activities.
