Sheinbaum Criticizes Judicial Corruption in Mexico

During a press conference, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, strongly criticized corruption in the Mexican Judiciary and emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections to renew the judiciary, considering it "a blessing" for the country.

In a significant action against drug trafficking and as a signal against judicial corruption in Mexico, Sheinbaum praised the extradition of thirty drug lord leaders to the United States, carried out this Thursday. "The corruption of the Judiciary in our country is abhorrent and offensive," she declared.

The president expressed her hope of reaching an agreement with the U.S. government to avoid the imposition of a 25% tariff on Mexican exports, proposed by Trump in response to what he considers insufficient border control and security efforts.

A telephone call between Sheinbaum and Trump is scheduled to discuss this matter, following the extraditions of prominent drug trafficking figures such as Rafael Caro Quintero and the leaders of Los Zetas, Miguel Ángel and Omar Treviño Morales.

These extraditions took place after a meeting in Washington involving high-ranking Mexican security officials, along with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, to address issues of trade, security, and cooperation.

In the same conference, Sheinbaum mentioned that the Secretary of Security, Omar García Harfuch, and the Attorney General, Alejandro Gertz, would provide more details about the extradition operation of the drug lords.
