Violent Events in Mexico City Result in Multiple Deaths

In a violent day in Mexico City, at least 12 people were reported dead across various neighborhoods, including Cuauhtémoc and Iztapalapa. Authorities have arrested several suspects in connection with the murders, emphasizing that the events are unrelated.


Violent Events in Mexico City Result in Multiple Deaths

The Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, Pablo Vázquez Camacho, in close collaboration with the Prosecutor's Office, assured that they are working together on investigations to prevent impunity. This was announced following the transfer of 29 drug lords to the United States for fear that they would be released due to agreements with judges.

Last Thursday, various violent episodes were recorded in different areas of the capital. One of them took place in the Cuauhtémoc borough, where a foreign individual killed another person in a gym in the Doctores neighborhood. In another area, near the Central de Abasto, security forces detained an individual accused of committing a murder with an ice pick after a street fight.

In Álvaro Obregón, the Police detained an individual involved in a homicide with a stabbing injury following a traffic incident. Also, on Avenida Insurgentes Norte, two workers from a health institution were murdered, and a vehicle seen at the crime scene, which has not yet been located, is being intensely sought.

Pablo Vázquez Camacho mentioned that the various events "are not related" and that at least three of them were the result of fights and occurred with sharp weapons. The Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City is working together with the Attorney General's Office to address the consequences of these attacks that left at least 12 deceased.

During Thursday's events, 12 murders were reported in several locations such as Cuauhtémoc, Iztapalapa, and Álvaro Obregón. Authorities confirmed that the incidents were not related to each other and that most of the perpetrators had already been captured. Other arrests were made in the city center, where an individual killed another person with a knife after a fight.

In the eastern part of the capital, a man was arrested accused of murdering three people in a home in Iztapalapa with a firearm. The Secretary of Security is working jointly with the Attorney General's Office to clarify the facts and reduce crime rates in the city. According to authorities, the suspect was arrested in possession of a firearm with a silencer.
