Deputy Hugo Eric Flores Cervantes denies hindering discussions on the impeachment of ex-governor Cuauhtémoc Blanco, awaiting vital information from Morelos' prosecutor to move forward.

Legislators Await Information on Cuauhtémoc Blanco's Case

The Morena deputy, Hugo Eric Flores Cervantes, asserted that the legislators of the Chamber of Deputies are not obstructing the disqualification of the former governor of Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, after the legislators of the Lower Chamber canceled the discussion on the case for the second time.

The president of the Jurisdictional Commission of the Chamber of Deputies detailed that they are still waiting for a request for information to complement the file of Cuauhtémoc Blanco. In an interview with journalist Azucena Uresti on February 25, Hugo Eric Flores mentioned: “We are not, in any way, obstructing or blocking anything, on the contrary... The issue is that if this does not start correctly, with all the procedures, with all the necessary documentation, then simply, it will not be firm.”

The legislator argued that the prosecutor of Morelos, Uriel Carmona, did not send the fully integrated investigation file, so the legislators are waiting for a response. Hugo Eric Flores stated: “We are waiting for this information that is being requested, and once we have this information, surely the instructing section will hold a session.”

Nidia Fabiola 'N', half-sister of Cuauhtémoc Blanco, accused the former governor of attempted sexual assault. Prosecutor Uriel Carmona confirmed that the evidence provided was sufficient to presume the commission of the crime.

Fabiola 'N' recounted that, on one occasion at the end of 2023, Cuauhtémoc Blanco attempted to sexually assault her in the official residence he occupied. After having received several people during the day, Blanco knocked on the door of her room at night, at which point the aggression occurred.

In addition to the investigation for the aggression against Nidia Fabiola 'N', Uriel Carmona mentioned that there are more than 10 investigation files against the now plurinominal deputy. One of the files involves a photo of Cuauhtémoc Blanco with three alleged individuals linked to organized crime. Carmona explained: “This is an example of the type of investigations that are active in the state prosecutor's office.”
