Audio recordings have leaked suggesting that Maribel Guardia paid bribes in an attempt to gain custody of her grandson amid a family conflict with her daughter-in-law, Imelda Tuñón. The case, which had been calm following an announcement on social media of a reunion between Imelda and her son, came to light again when Maribel reported that the police raided her home in the early morning, causing her to have to return her grandson.
The Maxine Woodside program, 'Todo para la mujer', revealed an audio in which an alleged investigator of the case claimed that Maribel had distributed money to influence the judicial decision in her favor, removing custody from the biological mother. "The lady was distributing money to have a favorable ruling to take custody away from her mother, which is the intention behind this," said the person identified in the program.
Furthermore, the investigator mentioned that the best option for the child's care would be the maternal grandfather: "Imelda Garza's father was the most viable option to care for the little one," he stated in the leaked audio.
