Ex-Prosecutor of Morelos Denounces Alleged Political Persecution

The head of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Morelos, Edgar Maldonado Ceballos, stated that the institution rejects any form of political persecution and assured that its actions are within the framework of the law. In response to allegations of alleged harassment and surveillance against the family of Uriel Carmona Gándara, former attorney of Morelos, by his father, Uriel Carmona Sánchez, Attorney Maldonado Ceballos emphasized that the Attorney General's Office will focus on the administration of justice and attention to victims.

In a video circulated on social media, Carmona Sánchez reported that he has noticed surveillance in his surroundings since February 7, with the presence of vehicles with false plates, drones, and people near his home. In light of these allegations, Maldonado Ceballos reiterated that any citizen can approach the institution to file complaints or make allegations.

The head of the Attorney General's Office of Morelos noted that the doors are open for Carmona Sánchez or any other person to present their arguments, and asserted that the Attorney General's Office will focus on investigating efficiently for the citizenry. So far, there has been no official response from the federal government to Carmona Sánchez's request. Additionally, Carmona Sánchez requested the intervention of President Claudia Sheinbaum and a meeting with her to present his version of events.
