Jalisco Signs State Agreement for Gender Equality

The Secretariat of Substantive Equality between Women and Men (SISEMH), represented by Fabiola Loya Hernández, has called on authorities to join efforts in the prevention, sanctioning, and eradication of violence against women and to promote a culture of equity. The aim is to involve decision-makers in building a better environment for women, girls, and boys, regardless of ideological or partisan affiliations.

The Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, led the signing of the State Agreement for Substantive Equality between Women and Men 2025-2030, in the presence of more than 200 representatives from various sectors such as the Government of Jalisco, the State Congress, the Judicial Branch, municipal authorities, business chambers, academia, civil associations, among others.

In his remarks, Lemus emphasized the importance of joining efforts to eradicate violence against women. Loya Hernández mentioned that the agreement, composed of ten key points, aims to ensure safe environments for women, girls, and adolescents throughout Jalisco, bringing the necessary protections to every corner of the state. They will focus on preventing all types of violence and promoting female empowerment.

Among the key points of the agreement is the construction of a new culture that addresses the root causes of violence against women, ensuring access to comprehensive health services and establishing a care system tailored to everyone's needs. Actions will also be implemented to prevent violence, ensure access to justice for victims, and work with men on issues of masculinities and family co-responsibility.

Other measures include optimizing resources in disadvantaged areas, updating municipal regulations in accordance with international laws, promoting labor equality and non-discrimination, as well as creating specialized security bodies for the prevention and response to gender-based violence. The objective is to ensure a safer and more equitable environment for all inhabitants of Jalisco.
