On Tuesday night, journalist Martín Ruela was murdered in the municipal head of Tecoanapa, in the Costa Chica region of Guerrero. According to preliminary reports, two armed individuals shot him, taking his life just meters from the Tierra Colorada-Cruz Grande highway.

Local media reported that the assailants were riding a motorcycle and caught up with the journalist to commit the crime. However, other accounts suggest it could have been a group of four people in a truck. The official version is pending to confirm what happened.

After the attack, the assailants fled, and local authorities began the corresponding investigations, collecting evidence at the scene. It was mentioned preliminarily that Martín Ruela's family took his body to their home.

Martín Ruela, in addition to being a journalist, was a former community police officer and a current member of the municipal Community Council. So far, no additional official details have been provided about his murder.
