Jalisco Partners with WRI on Sustainability Projects

The Government of Jalisco, led by Pablo Lemus, met with the World Resources Institute (WRI) Mexico team to establish a joint work agenda. Collaboration is expected on important electromobility projects, such as Line 5 of the Light Rail, which will implement a system proposed by WRI that will reduce pollutant emissions by up to 92%.

The meeting addressed various topics, including sustainable transport and mobility, urban resilience and adaptation, clean energies, and energy efficiency. The main objective was to strengthen strategic alliances for the construction of projects that address the state's needs. In addition to Pablo Lemus, the meeting included the participation of Adriana Lobo, Director of Global Presence and National Action of WRI Mexico.

In the words of Pablo Lemus: "We held an important meeting with WRI Mexico to define a collaborative agenda on issues such as sustainability, climate change mitigation, and the creation of social and economic opportunities."

Cooperation with WRI will also extend to projects related to the sanitation of the Santiago River, climate change, and sustainable energies.

The World Resources Institute (WRI) is a technical organization headquartered in Washington DC with over 20 years of experience in Mexico. It has a team of 2,000 experts specialized in various topics such as climate, energy, food, water, cities, transport, among others. In addition to Mexico, WRI operates in 12 other countries, as well as regional offices in Africa and Europe.

Some of the projects promoted by WRI in Mexico include SAbERES, which seeks to strengthen the country's climate resilience through innovative planning, and Transformative Urban Coalitions, which accelerate the decarbonization of cities ensuring an inclusive and equitable process. Also noteworthy is the Data for Cool Cities-Mexico project, which works on cooling infrastructure solutions to improve urban quality of life and contribute to the fight against climate change.
