The Argentine coach Ricardo Antonio La Volpe expressed his doubts about the ability of Gerardo Espinoza, the new coach of Chivas for the Clausura Tournament 2025. La Volpe stated that it is not easy for a coach without the necessary experience to lead such a demanding club as the Rebaño Sagrado.
"Does Espinoza have what it takes for Chivas? It is not easy for a coach who, in my opinion, does not have the background of what it means to coach Chivas," La Volpe expressed, making clear his skepticism about Espinoza's ability to handle the pressure of managing such a large team.
La Volpe's criticism did not stop there, as he also pointed out how detrimental the lack of continuity and constant rotation of coaches is for any institution. In his opinion, decisions like the dismissal of Óscar García and the arrival of Espinoza reflect erratic management that does not benefit the club in the long term.
Moreover, La Volpe took the opportunity to talk about his relationship with the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). He accused the FMF of being "afraid" of him and mentioned that despite his willingness to collaborate in training roles or as a sports director, he was not given the opportunity.
In La Volpe's words, the FMF's refusal to allow him to observe the training sessions of the Mexican National Team was a sign of incompetence. He lamented that his experience and knowledge are not utilized to contribute to the growth not only of the national team but also of Mexican football in general.
Finally, the Argentine strategist, who had Espinoza as a player at Atlas, questioned the young coach's experience to take on the challenge of managing one of the largest clubs in Mexico. La Volpe emphasized the importance of gradually gaining experience and questioned whether Espinoza has the right profile for the position at Chivas.
