The deputy mentioned, "We told them yes, in exchange for the Lópezes being in office for 10 years." However, the coordinator of Morena, Ricardo Monreal, denied having carried out any negotiations regarding the anti-nepotism reform when questioned by the media about it. Monreal stated he was unaware of the statements made by Deputy Döring and expressed that he is the only one authorized to make agreements with other parliamentary factions.

On the other hand, the deputy coordinator of Morena, Alfonso Ramírez, also denied having had conversations with members of the PAN, PRI, or PVEM in order to obtain votes in favor of postponing the implementation of the anti-nepotism reform until 2027. Ramírez emphasized that there were no negotiations and reiterated that Ricardo Monreal is the only one authorized to reach agreements with other parliamentary groups.

The original proposal from President Sheinbaum was for the anti-nepotism reform to take effect starting from the 2027 elections to prevent direct relatives from succeeding officials. However, following the intervention of Morena senator, Adán Augusto López, and PVEM legislator, Manuel Velasco, its implementation was postponed until 2030. Despite the reform being unanimously approved in general terms, the modification to delay its implementation generated division of opinions among legislators.

Among the criticisms, it is argued that this reform will benefit officialist politicians with aspirations in the 2027 local elections. The decree prohibits reelection in various positions, such as deputyships, senator positions, presidencies, governorships, and mayors, among others. The proposal remains a source of controversy in Congress, with Morena coordinator Ricardo Monreal as the main character, who revealed details about the negotiations carried out to support the initiative starting from 2027.
