Xóchitl Gálvez participated in the 8M march taking place in various parts of the country. During her speech, she criticized President Claudia Sheinbaum and her party, Morena. Gálvez questioned why the campaign slogan of Sheinbaum regarding all women reaching the Presidency has not been fulfilled, pointing out that many struggles remain pending on the political agenda. The former mayor also mentioned the lack of dialogue with opposition sectors and labeled Sheinbaum's call for unity as insincere.
Regarding the assembly called by Sheinbaum at the Zócalo in the capital, Xóchitl Gálvez stated that it is a "Morena political rally" at a time when there are serious issues to resolve. Gálvez, addressing the issue of violence against women, recalled that during her presidential campaign, she experienced political gender violence and criticized the impunity surrounding these cases.
Former senator Xóchitl Gálvez emphasized the importance of her fight for indigenous women and mentioned that her personal history was marked by violence, especially in her childhood and youth. On the occasion of International Women's Day, Gálvez called for the promotion of a National Care System that guarantees women's economic independence and provides them time for their personal activities.
On the other hand, Claudia Sheinbaum, while commemorating International Women's Day, committed to implementing constitutional and legal reforms to combat violence against women. She announced ten measures in favor of women, including the recognition of historical women, the creation of the Women's Well-being pension, the construction of education and childcare centers, among other initiatives.
In the context of the commemoration of 8M, both Xóchitl Gálvez and Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted their commitment to the fight for women's rights and the eradication of gender violence in Mexico.
