Jorge Romero Calls for Action Against Drug Trafficking

Jorge Romero, leader of the National Action Party in Mexico, urges U.S. President Trump to reveal names of Morenista officials involved in drug trafficking, criticizing the previous administration for inaction against organized crime. He also warns about Mexico's dependency on the U.S. and suggests diversifying exports and boosting local consumption as strategies to combat economic threats.

Jorge Romero Calls for Action Against Drug Trafficking

The national president of Acción Nacional, Jorge Romero, urged the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to reveal the names of Morena officials involved in drug trafficking in Mexico, pointing out the lack of actions against organized crime in the previous administration. In the framework of the National Council of PAN, Romero expressed: "Who is he referring to, President Trump? In Mexico, we want to know who those people are and we want to see how the Government of Mexico acts in the face of concrete evidence and accusations from another government." He criticized that during the administration of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, organized crime increased significantly, describing the growth as monstrous.

Amid the trade conflict between Mexico and the United States over the 25% tariffs, Jorge Romero warned about the absence of a national strategy and Mexico's excessive dependence on a single trade partner. In this sense, the party leader proposed several actions to mitigate this situation: diversify exports to strengthen relationships with Europe and other regions, promote the consumption of national products instead of foreign imports to boost the domestic economy, and establish an effective tariff policy to respond to external economic threats.

On the other hand, Jorge Romero indicated that tariffs are not something new for Mexico, as there are charges that directly impact various productive sectors of the country.
