Investigation into Clandestine Ovens in Teuchitlán

The Prosecutor's Office of the State of Jalisco announced that the state prosecutor, Salvador González de los Santos, is directly supervising the processing of "new evidence" at the Izaguirre ranch located in Teuchitlán. It is being investigated whether any procedures were omitted during the securing of the site in the previous administration.

The collective Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco discovered three clandestine ovens on the ranch last week, despite the site having already been secured. The property was the scene of an operation in September 2024, where ten people were arrested, two were rescued, and one person was found dead.

Subsequently, searches were conducted using heavy machinery, ground-penetrating radar, and canine units, finding weapons, vests, ballistic evidence, and burned bone remains. In a subsequent inspection on March 5, a civil collective found new bone fragments in another location within the ranch and observed that the securing seals were broken.

The Vice Prosecutor's Office for Missing Persons determined that the bones had been burned and hidden under a slab of brick and dirt, a method not previously used by the criminal group. Therefore, an internal investigation has been ordered to identify omissions in the search and sanction those responsible.

The Prosecutor's Office will begin to provide public information about the case starting this week. An extensive inspection process of the property and surroundings will continue, with the collaboration of municipal, federal, and other state authorities. The Prosecutor's Office emphasized that the presence of personal items does not necessarily imply the death of their user and is determining the number of individuals to whom the found bones belong.

The Prosecutor's Office reiterated its commitment to a legal, thorough, professional investigation that provides certainty to the families of Jalisco.
