Edgar Amador's Rapid Moves in Mexican Economy

Edgar Amador, a newly appointed figure in Mexico's finance sector, is making strategic efforts to form his economic team while navigating political dynamics.

Edgar Amador's Rapid Moves in Mexican Economy

Edgar Amador, from the political sphere of the capital, has been supported by various figures within the Morena spectrum, despite being unknown among foreign banks and rating agencies. This has led Rogelio Ramírez de la O to remain as an advisor. For the past three weeks, Amador has been organizing discreet meetings with potential candidates for different positions, claiming to be able to assemble an economic team according to the guidelines of the National Palace.

On the other hand, Claudia Sheinbaum's inner circle is interested in replacing Martínez at the Tax Administration Service (SAT), due to his relationship with López Beltrán. Unlike Martínez, Ramírez de la O has extensive historical connections with major international financial centers, while Amador possesses characteristics opposite to those of his predecessor.

Amador has made progress in occupying offices of various agencies and development entities, indicating that his next objective would be the SAT. Raquel Buenrostro, with close ties to Amador, will be in charge of tax collection matters. The speed at which Edgar Amador is taking control of the dependencies linked to the Ministry of Finance is notable, demonstrating determination in his new position as secretary.
