Encouraging Citizen Participation in CDMX

The mayor of Miguel Hidalgo, Ulises Lara, has expressed his intention to promote citizen participation in what he considers an officialist strategy to discourage turnout at the polls. His main goal is for citizens to be well-informed and make sound decisions when choosing judges, magistrates, and ministers who guarantee the independence of the Judicial Power and defend the Constitution.

Ulises Lara, from the National Action Party (PAN), intends to lead the opposition in a unique election in Mexico's history, although at this moment the alliance faces uncertainty due to not having made a unanimous decision just three months before the elections. In light of this situation, Lara has launched the initiative "Judges for Freedom" to encourage citizen participation and counteract possible official influence in the Judicial Power.

The mayor has emphasized the importance of the population being involved in the electoral process and warns against being mere spectators, but rather to fight to prevent judicial appointments from favoring the officialism. With crucial elections for the country approaching, Lara reiterates his commitment not to remain passive and promotes the active participation of the population to ensure transparency and legitimacy in the process.

In a press conference, Mauricio Tabe, mayor of Miguel Hidalgo, announced the organization of open forums for those interested in competing in the judicial elections. Tabe assures that all people will be allowed to participate and that it will be the citizens who, through these dialogue spaces, will make their own decisions, without direct intervention from the authorities.
