The Federal Register Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) approved the nominal lists for the judicial elections at the federal and local levels during this Monday's session. The nominal lists of voters will have 32 records per page, with up to a thousand records per booklet, entity, district, section, type of sectional polling place, circuit, and judicial district, alphabetical range, and total voters who will vote at the polling place.
"The documents will be submitted to a vote of the General Council, unlike in other elections where that step is not necessary, as this is a novel design," reported Commissioner Arturo Castillo Loza, president of the commission.
Commissioner Carla Humphrey expressed her dissatisfaction with the approval of the printing of materials due to a budget cut and the possibility allowed by legislation to use the nominal list digitally. Castillo Loza agreed that it was desirable and could be applied in other elections to solve the problem of having to return such booklets to the INE.
Before the session, the commission, along with the Temporary Committee for the Extraordinary Process of the Judicial Election, approved the geographical frameworks of seven entities that will have local judicial elections. Colima did not require divisions and was considered as a single entity, while Chihuahua will have 14 electoral judicial districts; Tlaxcala, eight; Tamaulipas, 44; Durango, two; San Luis Potosí, 17, and Tabasco, 16.
Alejandro Sosa, director of the Federal Register of Voters, mentioned that the geographical frameworks of Quintana Roo, Veracruz, and Zacatecas are yet to be completed, pending approval from local electoral public bodies. It was also reported that efforts will be accelerated in the geographical framework of Nayarit, following the decision of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation to revoke the agreement with which the INE decided not to accompany the judicial electoral process of the entity.
In another area, the agreement by which the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) established the roadmap and deadlines for the conclusion of its current integration's functions came into effect yesterday. It was determined that the last session of the current plenary will be on August 12, while the last work report of the president minister, Norma Piña, will be held on August 15. Additionally, a accountability working group will be created to oversee the handover process.
