Since November 18, 2022, when her husband, Alexis Guadalupe Jiménez, was kidnapped in Tecomán, Colima, Azucena has not stopped searching for him. The 30-year-old taxi driver was taken from her side in front of her and her child, without them being able to do anything to stop it. During all that time, Azucena traveled to different places, following any lead that could lead her to her husband.
Last week, the collective Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco published a live video about a discovery in the clandestine crematories of the Izaguirre ranch, in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. Since that moment, Azucena has not heard anything more about her husband. In an interview broadcast by Foro TV, Azucena recounted: "Upon seeing the clothes, I remembered the details of the clothes he wore, the brands, the colors. The Cuidado con el Perro t-shirt I bought him at Coppel... everything".
In the displayed images, among the worn and damaged clothes, Azucena immediately recognized the pants her husband used to wear. Shortly thereafter, on her phone screen, she saw some boots that also looked familiar. At the ranch, 400 shoes, clothes, watches, metal prostheses, suitcases, and what appeared to be a training camp for a criminal group were found.
Azucena stated in an interview with media outlets that the identification of those clothes was a direct blow to her heart, a confirmation of what she already feared, but also an answer to her search. "We were going to the store when suddenly a truck stopped, two armed men got out, threatened him, and forced him inside. I had no doubt that all of that was his," Azucena recalled.
Although the identification of the garments may be a possible confirmation, the search collectives have urged families who have found clues about missing persons to approach the authorities and follow the legal process to continue the investigations.
