The president criticized the intervention of the U.S. official at a United Nations event on Mexico. At the UN Drug Commission in Vienna, Germany, Cart Weiland questioned Sheinbaum's call at the Zócalo. 'The truth is that there is no reason for someone at a United Nations event to be commenting on an event in Mexico, that's the first thing,' the president expressed.
'I suggest they focus on preventing injunctions for criminals or solving real problems instead of making surprise announcements,' Sheinbaum added in response. The U.S. representative launched harsh criticisms, stating that it is too early to celebrate while murders of women and children continue in regions like Guanajuato.
Sheinbaum downplayed the controversy with Morena leaders at the Zócalo, arguing that they were distracted and mentioned a supposed lack of coordination. In response to the accusation of making a 'surprise announcement' by the head of the SCJN Norma Piña, the president dismissed it during her morning conference.
The president announced that she would send a diplomatic letter in response to Cart Weiland's criticisms. Additionally, she referred to an open investigation against Canadian Ryan Wedding, accused of leading a drug trafficking network. Regarding the selection of members of the Judicial Administration Body, Sheinbaum suggested not to rush and to maintain coordination with the bodies associated with the judiciary.
