Journalist Luis Manuel López, who claimed to have a disability, shared a video on his social media of an incident in which a police officer from Tabasco violently pushed him while he was trying to take photographs, causing him to fall hard. "This morning I was attacked by an officer who, knowing about my disability, pushed me to prevent me from doing my job," the journalist stated.
López claimed that the police officer prevented him from taking photographs in an area, arguing that it was a restricted zone, even though he was several meters away from the crime scene. Furthermore, he pointed out that his photographic equipment was damaged due to the aggression he suffered.
The images the journalist was capturing as part of his journalistic work related to the discovery of charred remains inside a vehicle, which could belong to a couple of missing merchants in Villahermosa. In the incident, López sustained an injury, a blow to the head, and damage to his work equipment.
Luis Manuel denounced on his social media that this aggression was not only physical but also an act of censorship and repression by the police officer, who prevented him from carrying out his work. He thanked the support and solidarity of his colleagues, responding to both supportive and critical comments that arose after the incident. "It doesn't matter, I will continue with my work as far as possible," the communicator concluded.
