The Mexican Bar Association expressed its firm condemnation and deep indignation over the recent discovery of crematoriums and clandestine graves at the Izaguirre ranch, located in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. Through a statement, the organization lamented the alarming levels of violence and insecurity affecting the country and highlighted the similarity of this case to the massacre of 78 undocumented migrants in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, which occurred in August 2010.

"We strongly condemn the situation of violence in the country and express our deep concern for the alarming levels of insecurity affecting the population," stated the Mexican Bar.

Furthermore, the entity criticized that, despite the Ministry of the Interior reporting 2,863 clandestine graves as of April 30, 2023, this figure has not been updated, and new findings continue to be reported each week. "It seems that we have lost our capacity for astonishment and normalized forced disappearance," they added.

The discovery at the Izaguirre ranch, made by a group of searching mothers and fathers, included three crematoriums, multiple clandestine graves, human remains, as well as clothing, footwear, and identification documents.

The Mexican Bar made an urgent call to federal authorities to exercise their power of attraction and conduct a prompt and diligent investigation. "It is necessary to investigate the identity of the victims, safeguard evidence data, and clarify the possible omission of state authorities in the prevention, investigation, and penalization of these acts," they emphasized.

The organization also urged to strengthen surveillance and protection actions in the region, both at the federal and state levels, to ensure the safety of the population and prevent such regrettable events from recurring. "It is imperative that the authorities act promptly and effectively to prevent future tragedies," they asserted.

Finally, the Mexican Bar expressed its empathy and recognition towards the "Searching Mothers," who, despite facing persecution, harassment, and aggression from criminal groups and some authorities, have shown tireless commitment in the search for their loved ones. "Their bravery and courage are an example for all," concluded the organization.
