In the municipality of Teuchitlán, the collective 'Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco' discovered a cartel training camp last week after receiving an anonymous call. The Attorney General's Office of the State of Jalisco reported that up to now six sites with skeletal remains and more than 500 clues in four areas of the ranch have been found. The collective refers to this place as a 'concentration and training camp' for drug trafficking.
On Tuesday, March 11, the head of the Attorney General's Office, Salvador González de los Santos, oversaw the investigation work at the site to rule out the presence of more human remains and strengthen collaboration with groups searching for missing persons. Items of clothing and personal belongings have been recorded at the site, which has an area for tactical training and physical conditioning.
Attorney González de los Santos explained that a detailed forensic analysis is being conducted to determine the age of the remains and possible identifications. During the visit to the property, the head of the Secretariat of Intelligence and Search for Persons, Edna Montoya, and the Deputy Attorney for Missing Persons, Blanca Jacqueline Trujillo, were also present.
On the other hand, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) will take the case of the drug trafficking training camp discovered at Rancho Izaguirre in Teuchitlán. The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, requested that the FGR take over this case to thoroughly investigate what happened in the area.
The discovery of the clandestine crematories in this place was made possible thanks to the work of the collective of searching families. The head of the FGR, Alejandro Gertz Manero, expressed his astonishment at the lack of knowledge of local authorities about the presence of graves and crematories at the ranch.
Jalisco is the state of Mexico with the highest number of missing persons, with more than 15,000 cases recorded from December 2018 to September 2024. At Rancho Izaguirre, charred human bones, more than 200 pairs of shoes, numerous items of clothing, and other personal belongings were found.
