Xóchitl Gálvez, former presidential candidate, emphasized the urgency of implementing a Care System in Mexico, noting that 90% of caregivers are women, who have sacrificed their work and professional lives to care for family members. She highlighted the importance of this system to achieve gender equality, along with other public policies such as daycare centers and full-time schools.
In her statements, Gálvez criticized the current Government for not prioritizing the creation of a National Care System in the recent proposals sent to Congress. She lamented that, despite having a female president, the agenda of women has not been one of the main concerns.
Additionally, the former senator expressed her dismay at the discovery of a recruitment center of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel to attract young people into criminal activities, calling this situation a "horror."
"Economic transfers help, yes, but there are also needs for daycare centers and full-time schools that were removed by López Obrador's Government. Daycare homes and long-term care for elderly adults are required," emphasized Xóchitl Gálvez in her call to implement the Care System as a fundamental step towards gender equity in Mexico.
