Claudia Sheinbaum Addresses Recent Findings in Teuchitlán

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, referred to the discovery of a mass grave in Teuchitlán, Jalisco during her morning conference on Friday, March 14. In this context, she mentioned the presence of the Search Commission of the Secretariat of the Interior and the beginning of the involvement of the Attorney General's Office in coordination with the State Attorney's Office. Sheinbaum requested the attorney to attend the next morning conference to report on the progress of the investigations.

In her statements, the president criticized the opposition for focusing solely on President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), recalling other cases of corruption and organized crime linked to previous administrations. She emphasized that the land where human remains were discovered was under the jurisdiction of the State Attorney's Office of Jalisco, not the federal government.

Sheinbaum highlighted that it is essential to wait for official information before making judgments about the situation and called for prudence in this regard. She mentioned that her government remains committed to supporting the victims and their families, but stressed the importance of not speculating without grounds. In this sense, she urged to refrain from accusing former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador of being responsible for the violence crisis in the country.

The Attorney General's Office is already involved in the investigation alongside the State Attorney's Office, and it is expected that next week advancements in the case will be presented in the morning conference. Sheinbaum urged not to spread false news and to wait for the development of the investigation before making hasty conclusions. She reminded those who label AMLO as a "narcopresident" that caution and respect for the truth are needed amidst sensitive circumstances.
