Violent Clashes in Jalisco and Michoacán

On the borders of Jalisco and Michoacán, a series of attacks were recorded resulting in the death of three Army personnel and two National Guard members. The confrontations spread to Michoacán municipalities such as Vista Hermosa, Tanhuato, and Yurécuaro, where two National Guard officers were murdered in Guadalupe del Lerma. The attackers, allegedly from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, set fire to at least five vehicles to block roads connecting Michoacán and Jalisco, as well as state roads in various municipalities.

Authorities reported that these attacks are attributed to Heraclio Guerrero Martínez, known as 'El Tío Laco', a lieutenant of CJNG in Michoacán and close to Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes 'El Mencho', leader of the Jalisco cartel. The Michoacán Public Security Secretariat deployed an operation in Zamora, La Piedad, and Jiquilpan to locate those responsible and restore security in the region.

The incidents included attacks on national guards in San Antonio de Rivas, where several armed men ambushed the officers. The use of metallic spike strips was also reported on Michoacán roads, leading to a confrontation that resulted in three soldiers dead and two injured. In another incident, National Guard agents were ambushed on the Zamora-Carapa highway, resulting in three personnel dead and two injured.

Authorities are working to clear the blocked roadways and ensure safety in the region. Citizens have been asked to follow the authorities' instructions and remain calm amid these violent events.
